Having completed undergraduate studies in Exercise and Sports Science and Exercise Physiology, Ciara went on to complete her Masters of Physiotherapy in 2011 at Edith Cowan University. Ciara received the Dr. Heather McGowan OAM Professional Practice Prize in 2007 awarded for excellence in professional practice and high achievement whist on practicum and in 2009 was acknowledged in the ECU Top 100 Students at the University. Ciara is committed to her continued professional development and is hoping to soon commence her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy.
Following graduation, Ciara moved into private practice and was also the Physiotherapist for the Football West Women’s National Training Centre Challenge Women’s team for 4 years as well as WA State School Girls and School Boys. In 2016, Ciara accepted an opportunity to work in the UK as the Sports Physiotherapist for the University of Nottingham. During this time Ciara worked with Olympic, Commonwealth Games and international athletes from the UK and Europe in a range of sports. It’s through these experiences that Ciara began to appreciate the physical and psychological importance of continuing to train in a modified capacity especially with injured athletes. Ciara has had vast experience with post operative rehabilitation and has a keen interest in tendon management.
Ciara loves nothing more than getting out on the coast with family, friends, and a good coffee in hand. Aside from this, having played Soccer at National Level Ciara still loves training hard a reaping the rewards and in her retirement from Soccer found Crossfit. Finding that ‘work-life balance’ is often a challenge so finding that little thing each day that you can do for you is essential!
