Plantar Fascia

The plantar fascia is a strong, fibrous band that supports the arch of the foot. It attaches to the base of the heel and then spreads out across the ball of the foot. The foot is subjected to tremendous stress when weight bearing and it’s the plantar fascia’s role to provide shock absorption. Excess stress can cause inflammation and therefore require plantar fasciitis treatment.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is categorized by pain on the inside aspect of the heel and occasionally under the arch of the foot. Overuse of the plantar fascia structure results in inflammation and pain at its attachment to the heel.

Causes of Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Faciitis is usually an overuse injury, commonly from increased running, jumping, dancing, basketball and tennis. It is most common in those aged 40-60 but can occurs in any age group. Obesity, poor footwear and changes in running/sport surface can also be to blame.

Signs and Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis
